Athlon XP on Duron mobo?

I have an Asus A7Pro mobo designed for Durons and old Athlons (200 Mhz FSB). Is it possible to put a 266 Mhz Athlon (running at 200 Mhz FSB) on that?

Thanks in advance, Ben.

Update to the newwest BIOS and it will run as a 100Mhz chip. so a 1.33 Ghz Athlon would show up as a 1Ghz Athlon.

Ok.
But, wouldn't be better (and cheaper) to use a 1.3 Duron instead of an 1.3 Athlon XP running at 1.0 Ghz?

Well for a little over $100 you can get a Athlon 1700+ and a KT333 board. If you need to use SDRAM then get a KT266a board that has both DDR and SDRAM slots.

The Athlon running at 1 Ghz probably runs most of your apps faster than a 1.3Ghz Duron due to it's larger cache and better prefetch capability.

You should consider what Marlin1975 said by just getting a new motherboard to go along with your new chip. The K7S5A is a solid performer with both SDRAM and DDR SDRAM if you don't want to buy new memory.
