Athlon XP multiplier question

I recently read somewhere in this forum someone saying that NForce2 Ultra 400 boards automatically unlock the multipliers on Athlon XPs. I had thought previously that one still has to either short pins on the bottom or connect bridges on the top to unlock the multipliers, but is it true that NF2 Ultra unlocks them automatically for you?

I don't suspect this is true, but if it is, less work for me. :D

*bump*

I just tried changing the multiplier on my T-bird without modifying the CPU at all, but I've heard many of the later 1.2-1.4 GHz T-birds were factory unlocked already so that doesn't necessarily answer my question.

Folks?

Tbirds are Athlons, not Athlon XPs. The nForce2 unlocks Thoroughbred (Tbred) and Barton cored chips. I don't know about the Tbird, but I doubt it.

I know.. hence why I said it doesn't answer my question. But you did, so thanks. :)
