Athlon XP Mobile

Dedicating post #2400 to my Athlon XP Mobile, loved that thing, ran at 2400 MHz right out the box. Now its in an HTPC undervolted at 1.8 GHz, where are your Athlon XPs today?

My 1700+ T-bred B (ran at 2400MHz for over two years) was retired two months ago when I bought my Opteron 170. Right now it's just sitting in a box, I really should sell it if it's still worth anything at all...

Probably worth $40, my Athlon XP Mobile 2600+, is worth a hell of a lot, these things are really hard to find now.

sold my XP-M 2600 for $50 to a friend, he's running it @2500mhz(200x12.5), i ran it @2580mhz(215x12) one of the best price/performance cpu's ever.

Yup, best <$100 I ever spent on a computer component. I used to run it at 200x12 @ 1.575V, any higher on the multi and I had to overvolt for Prime95 stability, and my motherboard (ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe, also in said HTPC) was picky with any FSB over 200 MHz. Good times.

My XP is still in an EPoX motherboard in a box, waiting for some type of future use. I recently upgraded to an Opteron rig and I still haven't decided what to do with it. I think I might build a simple box with it and bring it to work.

My 2600-M is still serving me well in my second machine, at 2.30 GHz with 1.575 volts. It is in an Abit NF7-S with a 6800 GT, keeping my nephew and other visitors happy. It will run at 2.6 GHz if you can keep it cool enough, but I'm not going there.

I've got an XP 1400+ right here, right now, and I really hate that thing.. When I get my new box, I think I'm gonna feed it ~5V 😀.

my 1700b is sitting in my home server, running at 1.6 in a k7s5a (it did 2.3 in a better mobo) and my 2400moby is doing 2.4 in one of my kid's pc's... truly amazing chips...

When my Epox 8rda mobo died, and then came back to life (thanks to Epox), I debated on letting my 2400+ "sit on a self" and building an Opty rig. But I thought better of it and reassembled the PC once I got the mobo back from Epox. Still works good and my wife is the only one using it (most of the time) and she doesn't play many demanding 3d games.

Those things were hard to find when the mobile craze was going on.

I've got one, how much do they go for? Mine hit 2.7ghz back in the day, though it took some really loud air cooling to do and cooperative ambient temps. Currently it's in my main rig at 2.2ghz with a 220fsb. (running 1:1 on some heavily overclocked pc2700 generic ram...the increase in memory speed and thus decrease in latency seems to be more worthwhile than overclocking it several hundred mhz higher with a significantly higher vcore....not faster, but it seems to gain me about 10% performance over a stock 3200+, which brings it up to about athlon 64 3000+ level)

I sold all my working socket A CPUs. Still have two new socket A boards (anyone want one for cheap?) and still have a collection of dead socket A CPUs (none killed by me).

I got a XP-M 2500+ (11x200) sitting on a Abit NF7-S 2.0 Motherboard with 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 GeIL Value BHDC and an unused XP-M 2600+ sitting in a tray. The 2600+ was a backup for if the 2500+ failed, which it didn't.

Might make a HTPC with it, just waiting for a decent Digital Tuner to come out and a decent case.

I just decommisioned mine the other day also, great chip. but alas I must move on to the next hot (or should I say cool) chip. Opty 144 4tw!

but in my mind the mobiles will forever be in the history of great overclocking chips along side the 1700 AXPs, 800mhz Durons, the 566mhz Celys, and the 300mhz Celys.

but the 2400 mobile and the NF7-S V2 are sitting in a box ready to be put back to use into my brothers system.

I sold all my XP-Ms except for a 2400+ 35w @2.5ghz chip. That one lasted in my main rig almost a year before I upgraded to a Sempron 2800+. I was able to get most of my XP-Ms to 2.6, some even went a smidget higher. I probably could have done better at the time if I had had a good cooler. I was only sporting a Thermaltake Volcano 7+, and temps were getting out of control at the higher frequencies/voltage.

yup i had a 2600+ mobile @ 2.4 stock voltage
and a 2200+ mobile at 2.4 1.65V best bang for the buck, then i upgraded to a64 3200+

I sold my xp-m 2500 about half a year ago. Was a great cpu for the money, did 2.4ghz stable on a semi-decent cooler, but it was time to move on to A64.

My xp-m 2500+ is also doing HTPC duties in an old epox 8rda+ mobo (which had to replace 10 caps in...). Runs 2.4 easily at stock barton voltage, but I leave it at 2.0 on xp-m voltage, although at the moment, I forget what it is.

Put my 2500m in my wife's PC (my old spare gamer) without her even knowing it. I wanted to get it to 3200 but never could get the damn thing stable. All the components were quality, so I have yet to figure out whats holding up the O/C. Same deal with a 2500/8RDA setup I have ... no 3200 love for me at all. I specifically bought those parts to shoot for 3200 on each, but by summer I figure I will sell one or both and go dual core, just because its what all the cool kids are doing these days.
😀
