I bought a Mobile Athlon XP 2500+ (and overclocked it to 2.6Ghz), Asus A7V880 and 2GB of memory. When I boot the computer it says I have a Sempron! Is this normal? I did load the CPUID and it said Athlon XP-M but everything else says its a sempron...

It's a glitch in the BIOS of your board. Sempron /= AthlonXP-M. On most boards it shows up as Unknown CPU type.

YOur mobile should be a barton = 512KB L2 cache. Sempron = 256KB L2 cache. Not sure why it says its a Sempron. Make sure your cpu is a Barton. I guess they could come out with Sempron mobiles with no announcements.

Yeah, I loaded CPUID and it says its a Mobile Athlon XP (barton core) w/ 512K cache. I checked new eggs webiste reviews of the asus motherboard and someone listed that there 2600+ was being read as a sempron too... so I guess i'll wait for a bios update to fix it.
