I have an athlon xp-2800 barton cpu that is green in color. Most bartons that I have seen are brown. Does the color mean anything?

Thanks

Thought green was new?

I looked into that a little further and there is no difference, apparently the color differs dependant on where the cpu's are produced. "AMD's Processor Fabs are located in Austin, Texas and Dresden, Germany. We are still conducting research on which Fab produces which color. If you have any information this please Contact Us." --> Hear

barton cores are usually brown. but it could be one of the very first bartons.

green is old i thought. the brown chips were made with a special material (organic or something) that supposedly had something to do with better temps. don't think there was any difference. i had a green and brown mobile xp 2600+ and saw no difference in temps.

think i got it backwards. brown is old and made with something non-organic. green is the newer organic pcb material.

Nope, the earliest athlon XPs are made of organic substrate, and it is reasonable to assume that AMD sticks with the same organic substrate for all their athlon XPs. The color difference is most likely only cosmetic.
