I am currently running an Athlon XP 1800+ on a EP-8KHA+ (KT266a) with PC2100 memory.
I am looking for a quick 'best bang for the buck' upgrade, and my MB can support the XP 2600+ Thoroughbred CPU.
What I am wondering is, could I use the Barton version of the 2600+ instead on this setup, or would it REQUIRE a 333 FSB and PC2700+ memory? I understand the barton wouldn't be at its best without this, but if it was compatible on a 266MHZ bus, I would think it would still out perform the Thoroughbred version?
I am normally not so cheap on such an upgrade, but I am reserving most of my funds for a new video card
Thanks
