Just wanted to let everyone that's considering buying a new AMD Athlon XP+ retail cpu to know about this freebie add-on at ZipZoomFly (formerly Googlegear):

free cdr's

10 pack of free cdr's with the purchase of a retail cpu. :)

No idea of what speed they are, and I wouldn't expect much, but hey......free's always good, right?

Oh yeah, their XP2500+ retail cpu is $89, a buck cheaper than Newegg's $90 price. :)

Edit: just went back, and noticed they're 40x cdr's. :D

Noticed this thing like two days back.. They are 40X as shown on the add itself. So pretty fast.

And for those wanting to a AMD setup, wait for september 23rd, the scheduled day for opteron launch. Prices will fall by $10 IMO in a week.

Monarchcomputers.com been selling them all week with free shipping for $83.
Price is now $84 but no tax for us CA guys.
I clocked mine to over 3200 with only a minor voltage hike.

I betcha the truth of the matter was that Google was probably putting pressure on them to change their name. It doesn't make any sense to change a name like that, especially when they have the name familiarity.

I agree, zipzoomfly is the dumbest change they could have made, especially since the name googlegear was fairly well established. I've only bought a couple of things from them, thier "free" next day air service is lame, they seem to have a 5 day wait before they ship stuff out. I had things go ground from mwave and get here 2 days sooner.

Price for a OEM 2500+ is 84 with free shipping, but for a retail boxed, it cost 99bucks.

Xactly, zipfly and then zoom would've been more appropriate.

The point was they had been at a lower price all week with free shipping and no tax for a lot of ppl. I would

love it if Newegg or a lot of the other places didn't have to charge tax for us California guys.
