Athlon Xp colors

This may seem like a dumb question, but i was wondering about the Athlon Xps color. In many of the reviews and articles i have seen the chips are brown. I got my XP 2000+ on wensday and its green. Is there any differences besides the green color?

Today, I read a person who was quoting someone from AMD saying that all current production is green, simply for cosmetic reasons.

I didn't think it was cause they just wanted to change for the hell of it. but i haven't heard about the "colors" in a long time.

Last I knew, green/brown meant different FABs.

Thank God! but then how come all the pictures for new Tbred are brown?

I love my green Palo. my dad has the same chip but its sucky brown hehehe.

Bartons better be green too. Or, neon orange would be cool. heheehhe

its not metal though, its some non-organic plastic.

yes i know
but if they can make metal transparent, they might be able to eventually make whatever the cpu is made of transparent 😀

well theyve already got all sorts of clear plastics and acrylics. i want an electric guitar made of clear plastic. seen 'em before. hehe fun fun.

if you could see inside a processor, what would it look like (not just inside the core)?

and also, how do for example Tomshardware show inside of cores?

the pics are maybe give to them by amd
maybe those are the basic schematics, as it does show the size and location for the different "departments" of the cpu

The orange and brown (or red as some people see it) are organic substrates as opposed to the ceramic ones used for the old T-Birds. I'm willing to bet that there's no difference between the colors, it's just what the plant used that it came from... and that probably had to do with cost... maybe on plant got the green crap cheaper than the brown crap. And another got the brown crap cheaper than the green crap... or maybe it was all green crap, and someone put red dye in the crap to make it brown crap as a joke... who knows =)

I have a Athlon C-266 AXIA stepping and it is blue supposedly off either the 8th or 11 th week of production

Can you people see your processors after they are installed or something?

Maybe it's just me, but I have a heatsink in my computer that seems to cover up the processor 😕

Are there watercooling setups where you can actually see the processor?

not that i know of so far
afaik, they have to have a metal part which touches the core apparently 😕 😉

but if they can figure if its possible to make metals thicker which are still transparent it would be pretty cool

We build our own computers, so we know what every part looks like.

A few people have built direct-die watercooling and use a homemade plexi-"box" around the cpu so you're able to see the color of the cpu with such a setup.
