From the Article...Link

Ref:"Shuttle had to redesign their heatsink/heatpipe setup for the nForce2 product in order to accommodate the upcoming Athlon XP 3200+ which is fully supported by this platform"

When is this upcoming? Must be Barton? When...

Ha! I doubt the XP 3200 will ever come out any time soon. Even though I wouldn't mind have one :D

Emmmm, from what I've read of the hammer, I'm pretty sure the Hammer desktop processor is keeping the Athlon name going.

Not to change the subject, but that's a pretty neat article. ;) I wonder how much those things are? You could buy about 10 of them, stick some Newegg XP processor special in them, and have a smokin' SETI crunchin' rack.

That would be an exceptionally expensive way to do it, the people that were setting up bare mobo/ps/CPU/RAM combos booting off of ZIP disks had a much more cost effective method.

Yes, but they won't be Athlon XPs and there's no way in hades you're gonna stick a Hammer into a Socket A board.

Did you read the fine print?
I dumped the cancer research project because somewhere on that site there is a little blurb about using your computing cycles for cancer research, but not all the time, only most of the time, the rest of the time spare CPU cycles are given to other things .. something like that I don't remember it's been a while.
The reason I don't do distributed is because I know what those spare CPU cycles are really going towards .. we're cracking our own surveilance .. seriously.
Carnivore, echelon .. seti, cancer at home?
