Who's had a better performance in games and OC:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
or
Intel Pentium IV 2.4C GHz 800FSB
???

I know that the AXP 2500 is working on 1.8GHz and the 2.4C is working on 2.4GHz, so... it's not a big difference ?

With the 800 Mhz FSB it probably will be. But then again... you can overclock the XP2500 to use a 200 mhz FSB, then knock the multiplier back down to get back to 1.8 and then compare... I'd actually like to see how they compare... anyone wanna donate a 2.4C and motherboard to me so I can test? =)

If someone would like to donate it for the test... I'll raffle it off, and some lucky guy will get it for free =) Hey AnandTech... you MUST have some spare parts laying around ;)

At stock speeds the 2.4C is faster, at overclock speeds, most people are hitting over 3.0ghz with the P4 and with the AMD they are hitting the 2.0-2.3ghz barrier. With the higher FSB I would say the P4 will whipe the floor with the overclocked barton. Unless you're really lucky and get an overclock over 2.5ghz.:)

If you want to compare, find a benchmark for the new XP3200 and compare it to a P4 3.0C

Anyone find one?

I was on a budget so I just got the 2500+ myself.

hmmm..... looks like a better test is the "XP3200" against the "old" P4 2.4b.

I have a 2.4C coming in soon, running it with a Ti4400 that o/c'ed to 300/610, that's a little slower than what Jeff7181 was running. My 2.53@2.83 (149FSB) does about 13700, I'll let you know what I score with the 2.4C later.
