Here is my setup:

AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (Thoroughbred Revision B0)
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
Crucial PC2100 512MB
GeForce 5700 Ultra

I have been trying to unlock the cpu, so it will allow me to overclock with more flexiblity. However, I am having trouble finding good documentation on how to unlock this type of processor. I have tried the "wire trick", that has you connect two pins on the underside of the cpu. That didn't work. The multiplier is set at 15x no matter what I do. I've been Googling this for a few days and I can't seem to get anywhere. I can turn up the FSB to 147MHz which gives me 2205MHz up from 2GHz at the stock 133FSB. After that I think I am running into RAM issues with my crappy PC2100. I tried to turn the RAM speed down to 83% of the FSB at 147MHz which would make the memory run at 122MHz. For some reason my computer would not boot after that change. So any helpful info would be great. I've heard of problems overclocking on an Asus A7N8X series.

Clear your cmos and give it another try.

There is a link at ocinside.de that shows how to use a wire wrap method on some of the cpu pins to try and unlock. But later cores on t-bred and barton were super locked, nothing can be done about it.

I tried the wire wrap method and physically altered the bridges on a 2800+ super locked Barton, still the same 12.5 multiplier, no change.

I've got the same mbrd as you.

Only few times I tried running RAM under FSB it didn't boot ,so I guess it doesn't work:frown:

All AMD CPUs from/after 0339 (yr/wk) are 'superlocked' ,look on your CPU ,2nd line ,LH side ,last 4 numbers if I recall rightly.

Btw I used to have that RAM too on my Asus A7V266-E ,mine would run upto 152MHz with 2-2-2-6 timings @ 2.65v.
Many people could run that RAM upto & over 166MHz with higher latencies (like 2.5-3-3-7).
Try upping the RAM volts &/or increasing RAM latencies (a bit) to run a higher FSB ,don't do both at the same time.

Make sure your AGP bus is locked too.

GL :)

Oh btw
