I am able to play most games at medium quality with my current video card ( ATI All-In-Wonder 9800 pro 128 ), however I am becoming less and less able to play reliably..

For example, the Supreme Commander works, but as soon as even a little bit of action is going on, it completely destroys my putter.

Is it worth nabbing the video card, or am I way better off just nabbing an X2 3800 setup for not too expensive?

Other mention: I am able to play F.E.A.R. in 1280 in medium settings no problem, not sure why the other guy with a better system is having serious problems..

I would say go for a complete upgrade.... it will be not too expensive to get a system with a 3800 X2, 2gb ram, and a decent mobo.

I would either pick up a cheap X2 3800+ and Socket 939 mobo + X1950Pro PCIe and reuse your 1.5gb of ram

or do a full overhaul with Core 2 Duo setup.

I agree. You can save your money by reusing your ram with a x2 939 setup. Or you can go whole hog and buy everything over again with the C2D. AM2 stuff just doesn't really make sense, if you're rebuying the ram you may as well get a e4300 and overclock it or something.

Supreme Commander is seriously heavy on the CPU, so for this game you should look at upgrading around a dual-core processor (X2 or Core2Duo). If you can afford it, go straight for PCI-e motherboard/graphics card.
