For some reasons, my computer gives me the following readings in the BIOS:

CPU Temp 63 C / 145 F
System Temp 38 C / 100 F

CPU Fan 4440 RPM
System Fan 0 RPM (yeah...)
Vcore +1.744 V (etc.)

Not sure why my computer is running so hot. Here are the specs on it:
Athlon XP 2000+
Antec SX630 case
GeForce4 Ti 4200 (w/fan)
SB Audigy card
AverTV tuner card
512 MB ram
100 GB Western Digital HD

I can't figure out why it says the system fan isn't running. I assume that means the 80mm fan in the back of the case, which appears to be working just fine. Also these readings are just a few minutes after cold booting my computer first thing in the morning. I suspect that the system temperature might be the cause of my frequent blue screens with messages such as MULTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS.

Any ideas? Thanks. :)

Why do you have your vcore so high? I believe your vcore is supposed to be 1.65v. That makes the proc. run much hotter. Also, the system fan almost always refers to the front case fan.

That may be a Palomino core. The Palomino 2000+s ran at a high vcore. If it's a Palomino, then it has no black label, the stepping codes are printed on the CPU die itself.

Well, I don't recall changing the Vcore settings, unless there was a jumper to set or something. Also, my CPU host clock is set to 133 MHz. I should probably also specify that my board is a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP.

It should be running at 1.66 GHz (133x12.5). Do a quick Google for CPU-Z, that should tell you what core you have.

Well,
The case is 100 degrees....
My processor is 116 degrees with a case temp of 82.
The max die temp of your processor is 90 degrees Celsius, so it is not running all that hot, is it?

The system fan in the back is probably connected to a molex power connector, not the 3 pin header on the mobo, that's why it says the system fan isn't running.

Regardless, check to ensure that you don't have your heatsink on backwards. The step needs to be aligned properly with the socket, or it will not properly cool the cpu.

From CPU-Z (neat program):

AMD Athlon XP
Palomino
Socket A
0.18 micron
1.744 V

AMD Athlon XP 2000+
Core Speed: 1673.8 MHz
Multiplier: x12.5
FSB: 133.9 MHz

You're fine, the Palominos required a lot of voltage at higher speeds and always ran hot.

the gigabyte motherboards from some years have a 10º C compensation to scare the people i think that if you touch oyu heatsink and it is not soo hot that have to pu you finger inmediatle out of it you're going to have no problem... if you mother wasn't a gigabyte... that's a problem
