athlon xp 2000 or p4 2.26, which is faster. Need to Know

depends on the kind of applications you plan on running
the athlon will be faster at certain things the P4 will be at other things
also that P4 should oc a bit better than the .18u athlon palominos
I personally would get an XP 2400+ it would stomp both of them for about 195 bucks
