Hey,
I found this in my PC Mag (the latest issue). It seems that hp is offering a fully built computer for $1200 w/o a monitor! I think this is a VERY HOT Deal!! All I would do is change the Video card (if its not built in to the mobo) Here are some configs:

-AMD Athlon XP processor 2000+ with QuantiSpeed architecture (Operates at 1.67GHz)
-512 MB DDR Memory
-60 GB Hard Drive
-16x8x40 Max. CD-RW Drive
-16x Max. DVD Drive
-32 MB SDR Nvidia TNT2 M64 video card up to 12 mothnts of AOL included

only $1200!
(add a MX or F-series monitor and get $150 back in mail)

Have Fun With This One!

Wow, graphics should smoke with that TNT2 M64 - how old is that card, 4 years???

Pathetic...$1200 is a huge budget for a system, not including a monitor. Espically with how cheap AMD setups are these days.

I don't know I personally don't think its that great. I can buy all those components cheaper than that. And they probably dont have a great motherboard or memory brand in there. Not trying to be rude I just don't think its a great deal.

In case you're curious I built my rig for about $1000.

Thread crapping is a no-no in the For Sale/For Trade Forum. In Hot Deals, it is our duty to butcher underwhelming deals. We're watching out for the other Junior Members, and teaching this Junior Member a valuable lesson.

290 - AXP 2000+
70 - Whatever crap mobo HP uses
100 - 512MB DDR
130 - 60GB
50 - 16x CDRW
50 - 16x DVD
20 - TNT2 M64
100 - WinXP
useless crap software you'd never use (Bonzi Buddy, anyone?)

12 months AOL FREE - PRICELESS...............errr.................WORTHLESS :D

Ok, so basically the same stuff can be had for ~$800 +- 50 bucks or so (after shipping, taxes, depending on what kinda deal you get)

I dont think a $400 warranty is worth having on an $800 system

I would have to agree that this is not a hot deal.

I just went to NewEgg and built a Dual MP1800, Dual HDD with RAID, 256 DDR, GForce Video, Case, Fan, CDR for about $1100 without even trying to use all the cheap stuff.

You can put together a Gateway with better spec than those with a 2.0 GHz processor and a lot more bells and whistles for about another $50.

This not a very good deal, but great try at posting a deal. Unfortunatley that TNT2 is a really, really old card....
