Hi. I got my Athlon XP 1800+ today from united micro, and via the FSB on my Epox 8K7A overclocked it to 1666 MHz. (145 FSB). Solid as a rock; I upped the voltage to 1.95 to maintain stability. The board itself is a bit of a clunker; I wrecked a really solid 8K7A that let me use FSB's in excess of 160 MHz with my memory; now, getting to even 145-150 FSB is a study in frustration on the replacement board.

I plan to get the Epox 8KHA+ and do some things with it. My Athlon XP 1800+ is multiplier locked, with these little divots in the L1 bridges. I attempted to use pencil, and even though I connected the traces (you CAN connect them, btw, but I don't think I have enough of a connection to let the required current through) -- changing the multiplier via dip switches did nothing.

Here's the CPU code

AX1800DMT3C
AGKGA0135TPLW
F4106430015

The sucker is fast and stable. I swapped out my Athlon MP 1200 Mhz and replaced it. Ran up quite nicely and easily. I'm using an Enermax power supply, but the motherboard is only providing about 4.68-4.7 Volts via the 5 volt rail; the sucker drains a lot of current (especially with my memory voltage settings jacked the way they are).

It's rock solid at 1666 MHz; I'm going to try bumping it up a bit soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention; I'm using a swiftech mc462 (the type that bolts onto the motherboard so there's going to be NO burning chips videos thank you very much). Default fan, ~4500 RPM. Load temperature is about 44 degrees C running prime95 continuously.

I have that same stepping.

I wonder if these "F" chips will be as good as the "Y" chips that seem to be 38th week and later.

Yep, my system is currently FSB/memory bandwidth limited. Processor does 1700 mhz fine. Memory does not handle that FSB too well =P

;) Waiting till I get back to the dorm room so I can paly with my 1500 more <g>

I'm proud of the dragon orb mod I did, and if I described it in any detail, the words "Duct Tape" and "Coat Hanger" might show up... Let's face it <g> NASA is in Huntsville and any of us good 'ole boys down here in the south could get to the moon on duct tape and coat hangers <g>

OK I'm lieing on the coat hanger, but theree is a pice of duct tape on it <g>
