will an Athlon XP 1700+ give any discernable performance difference against an Athlon XP 2000+ when opening/running programmes when surfing net and some gaming?

is the Hammer cpu going to be socket A or a new interface and when its eventually released, do you forsee major price drops for the XP chips?
 
You'll only really see a difference in gaming... but then again if your not crazy about numbers it won't be that much faster than a 1700+
The Hammer will use a different interface 2ith 754 pins and the AXP will become the mainstream CPU while the Athlon K8 will be AMD's high performance CPU
