Hi, I recently bought a combo from Fry's for the computer I'm going to build. It was an Athlon XP 1700+ with an ECS K7S5A mobo. I got home, put it together, started her up, and the BIOS screen that shows hardware, said it is 1100Mhz. Last time I checked the 1700+ was 1.47Ghz. What happened? Did I get a dud?

You need to change your fsb to 133mhz.

Imagine how much less traffic this site would have if people just read their equipment manuals! :p

You know how many times I've heard this? I have 5 friends buy 1700+ XP's (from Ebay of all places)and they all bought 5 K7S5A's off a local computer show ( they asked for the cheapest board thats still decent so I pointed out the first mobo that came to my mind). Within a week, guess what 'problem' they asked me to solve?

Sorry if this sounds mean, but do you know how many less posts there would be if people wouldn't comment on others mistakes? And btw, I did read the manual, just missed it. Don't tell me you've never done the same thing.
