Some people asked me for this, here's a screen shot of the price, if you fax it in to them they'll price adjust after you place an order.

the screen shot can be found Here

Enjoy!

it's a weird coincidence that this topic is posted here today. i had thought about buying that combo, but (like so many), i ended up watititng for the nForce boards to come out instead. Now just today I picked up a Radeon LE for $39 (see my earlier thread -- though deal is dead now), so the integrated graphics doesn't look so appealing :) anyway, I went back to outpost looking for deals on kt266a mohterboards, I selected one & then when I went to my cart to check out, guess what I saw? the k7s5a/1700 combo was still in my cart, and still priced at $199! I wonder if they would honor it if I went through checkout with it. not that I'm sure I would anyway -- a big attraction of the k7s5a was suing the sdram for awhile longer, but now that I have 2x256mb for < $50, courtesy of best buy ... :) I'm still contemplating, it's quite a good price.

anyway, it really was a weird coincidence to see this thread pop up just hours later <cue twilight zone theme>

It's a great price even just to get the retail CPU. Egay the mobo, can easily get $50 +10 to ship it on there. That leaves you paying $140 for a retail Xp1700 which is pretty good.

It worked fine for me. I told them that I went to buy it on Saturday, after putting it in my cart on Friday. The price in the cart showed up as $199, but when I went to check out, it showed up as $229. I called a CSR, they told me take a screen shot of the cart, place an order at $229, and fax in the printed cart. I called yesterday to confirm, and they had made the price adjustment. Unfortunately they're out of stock, so I don't get it for a while. :( Enjoy the deal.

shoulda bought it a month ago when it was $169

gee, thanks, how helpful. some of us don't live near a Fry's B&M and so maybe don't see the attraction of driving across numerous state lines (not to mention go back in time) in order to save $30. Less, actually, when you figure in tax, netflip rebate, that kind of thing.

Yep, me too. Hopefully there will be a new XP + mobo deal after Christmas.
