Athlon XP 1600+ in a 1U? Too hot?

Senior member
Got a deal on a 1U case, was wondering if an Athlon XP 1600+ would get to hot in it? Looking at a copper 1U hs/f combo for it too.

I guess if it is, I'll just get a P3 or maybe a Tualatin setup.

Thanks.

Give it a try
should be able to work
if not you can always undervolt the cpu
and maybe underclock it (which would still tear up a P3)

Alpha makes a 1U cooler that might get the job done. http://www.plycon.com/pal153u.htm Check out AnandTech's tests for the results with this... it gives a 6C higher temperature on the test equipment than a PAL8045 with a super-quiet Papst 80mm 19cfm fan, to give you something to compare to.
