Athlon XP 1600+ at 333mhz FSB

Hardware:
Athlon XP 1600+ (b0)
KT400 Motherboard
256MB PC2700 (333Mhz)

I put an Athlon 1600+ (b0)that runs at 1400 Mhz normally into a KT400 Motherboard. Running the motherboard at 266 Mhz and I get.
Specs:
40W
47 degrees C max
1400 Mhz

I ONLY reset the FSB to 333 Mhz with jumpers and get:
Specs:
51W
49.5 degrees C max
1743 Mhz

It appears to be stable.
Should I leave it at 333Mhz?
Is <50 C where I want to be on temp?
What is the max temp allowed for an Athlon 1600?
Do you see any problems with this setup?

Thanks for your responses.

I idle at 49C with a Pally 1600+ (no oc for me, dont want to fiddle with the chip) and have a load temp of 54C, so don't worry about your temps. As most people on the forums will tell you, only concern yourself with that if you have instability issues. I don't know about the running at 333mhz fsb though.

less than 50C is good temp, My 2800+ will hit about 52C on full load
that at stock speeds/voltage

I also believe the max temp is 85C (not good 😉

leaving it at 333MHz.....is up to you

Edit: Welcome...I see this is your first post 🙂

I have not hand built a system since the K6-2 days.
This one I built in about 1.5 hours and had XP Pro running in another hour.

I did not have a lot of money so I bought the parts from TigerDirect as a package with rebates.
Here are the parts:
XFX Mach 4 KT400ANB 5 PCI, 1 AGP 8x w/ BI Sound, Network, 2 USB 2.0
AMD Athlon XP 1600+ (b0 stepping according to Sandra)
Speeze Socket A Chip Fan up to 2800+
PNY 32MB GeForce2 MX200 AGP 4x
SimpleTech 256MB (PC2700 333Mhz)
Maxtor 80 GB w/ 8MB buffer 133ATA
Cheap Case with a 300 Watt P/S
Windows XP Pro SP1

Nothing Fancy by today's standard, but my best system before this one is a 466Mhz Celeron and a 400Mhz K6-2.

Does the XFX (Pine) motherboard accurately measure cpu temps?
I have heard that some M/Bs are way off.

Thanks for the welcome.🙂

That temp sounds about right. I got a 51c max on a pally 1600+ I was running at 1800mhz 12x150 (cheap ddr2100 ram). It ran OC'd for over 18 months doing seti duty, and continues to run fine at 1400mhz on a friends puter.
