Ok...set up my friend's comp with Windows XP Pro x64 (and a dual boot with normal windowsxp32), and we got everything working with new nvidia drivers (hurray).

first 3dmark refused to run. so we turned off windows firewall. then it finished completely.

america's army installed and ran fine.

c&c generals/zero hour, installs...then when you try to run it, just hangs at the intro screen. :( we tried RunFirst, (it pops up two instances of the game then...wtF?), we can't get into task manager to alter the affinity fast enough. anyone got this to work? anyone have instructions on how to use runfirst EXACTLY? like what exact string, quotes and all, do we enter into the shortcut's properties.

Try downloading and using the AMD X2 drivers located at www.amd.com and listed in the other thread you replied in....

Should have been the first thing you did if you have been paying attention to recent threads talking about this...

as far as i know, that's just Cool n' Quiet, and since temperatures are fine, we don't care about throttling down the cpu.

i also browse other forums using this possibly more valuable tool called google and i've seen everybody suggest the new X2 drivers from AMD's site for every game problem, and more than half of the time, it didn't stop the crashing or hanging for any of those people.

If it solved the problems for someone, it can work for you. Just try it, if it doesnt work just disable cool and quiet in the bios and your PC wont clock down when not in use.
