I noticed on newegg they had only a few motherboards listed for x2.

I noticed there are AM2 and s939 motherboards, but only 939 processors (that are x2 on newegg at least)

What's the difference, and I noticed that for the cheaper ASUS board that says it supports s939 X2, that many reviews were saying it needed some kind of BIOS update or some such..

Can someone give me the rundown on motherboards that are good for the X2, but I can't afford these $150+ boards, i'd need one closer to $100, SLI is optional, but i don't want the micro ATX models

And what the deal is with AM2 and s939 ?

Thanks :D

AM2 is the new AMD socket just launching hence current limited availability of both CPUs & boards. The CPUs use DDR2 memory rather than the DDR on S939.

Most 939 boards will support X2s withthe correct BIOS which boards currently shipping ex-factory should have but old stock possibly may not.
