Athlon warranty question...

If I bridged my L1s, but I didn't overclock, and then my motherboard fried my CPU somehow; would I be able to RMA it? Would it still be under warranty? I ordered some parts (including the CPU) from Newegg the other day, and I just want to cover all my bases. Also, is it ok to just use a sharp, #2 pencil to bridge the L1s? Is this fairly permanent? Or should I look into getting a rear-window defrost repair kit?

1.33 athlons are unlocked (anything above 1.2 is, but not all 1.2s are unlocked)
