I just wanted to get some more opinions on how best to increase the performance of my system
currently it is
Athlon 500 w/ K7M
128 Meg RAM
30 GB IBM HD
10X/40X DVD/CD DRIVE

I am thinking of upgrading processors since they have dropped in price so much, but would it be better to go with an Athlon 900 in my current board or with a new board Socket A and a slower T-Bird?
Thanks

Do you have a GFD on the current sysyem ?

If not get one, I have two 550's. One hard mod at 850 and a GFD at 750.

It would be cheaper to buy a Thunderbird Slot A. You're motherboard can handle it. A KX133/KT133 based motherboard is a little bit faster, but, that's at least another 100 bucks. You can still buy slot A T-birds, and they still OC ;)

I don't think you have to go out and buy yourself anything yet when you haven't even overclocked your 500 yet...get yourself a GFD..go to this site and look at the TD2 GFD...www.highspeedpc.com..you can probably get that 500 upto 700 or 750... ooh... and look into a faster vid card...
