My new 1.33 Athy gets hotter (55/56 degrees) when it's left idle. When i start working the temperaute comes down to 49/50. Isn't it odd? I have cooler master (fan and heatsink (designed for 1.5 Ghz) and 2 other case fans running. Thanks for your response.
 
Well it just does that. Is it a possibility that when the system is idle the cpu fan runs slower? I have a Iwill kk266 board.
 
Have a look at your CPU RPM readout under full CPU load and idle. It is true that if you have ACPI enabled your RPMs will increase under load, but only by 200-300 in my experience, certainly not enough to affect temps.

Also, dont forget the idle state takes a few minutes from boot up to lower itself down, so for example you might boot up at 50C and start surfing the web and then see that it has dropped down to 36C.

It depends what you mean by "when I start working"?
 
Inqztive what are you using for temp readings?...anyway if you are using software program then compare it to the Bios temps.
