I have WinME on the computer in the topic. I just installed it. I put WinME on it because it would hang when the setup would get to "Starting Windows" on the blue screen in the installation program for WinXP. I would #1 really like to find out how to put WinXP on the computer, and #2, I would like to find out why it's running like it's 100 mhz. It's not ram, it's got 512. I just can't figure out what is wrong with it. Anyone have any ideas? Oh yeah, I tried to upgrade and it started okay, then it restarted and got to the WinXP logo, then goes black and hangs. I can't figure out what is wrong. I updated the BIOS to the most recent as well.

Some please help

You possibly have a bad piece of hardware. This is where you learn to trouble shoot component by component.

try with one stick of ram, then the other if it locks up again. This is to ensure neither one is bad. try leaving out all non essential cards out of the system
CPU, ram, and video is all you need to start off. Disable onbaord audio and onboard raid if you have that. If it sill locks up then try swapping video cards out with a known good one. You can also try testing each one of the components in a known good working system to be sure they are ok. So now you are narrowed down to the MB or a flakey or inadequate powersupply.

300 watts should be enough.

P.S. I forgot to mention that the cd-rom, hard drive, or floppy can also be possible culprits.

I have the KK266R and a XP1600+ and it runs fine on XP. Not exactly sure why you are having install problems. If you are talking about the fsb at 100mhz, I am assuming your processor is a 1.4 (14 * 100) or either (10.5 * 133). If it using only running at 1.05ghz then your problem is you need to changer a jumper. On the motherboard, there is a jumper setting that allows access for the fsb from 100-132 and 132-200 or as high as it goes. Change this from 100 to 133.

Another thing to try is the latest firmware.

I had (still have just not currently using) an IWill KK266-R that did the exact same thing while trying to install XP. Tracked it down to the videocard finally (GeForce3), if you have a spare around try switching out your card for another one. After the install is complete you can switch back to your normal card without issues.

A few weeks after I solved my problem I noticed on some of the forums dealing primarily with IWill boards that a lot of KK266 user were experiencing the same thing. It was tracked back to the board supplying insufficient voltage to some power hungry agp cards.
