I've come with the following conclosion for the best configuration to buy, based on Price/Performance/Stability optimization:

CPU: Athlon 1.33
CPU Fan: Volcano II
Board: Asus A7V133
RAM: 2*256MB Micron PC133
Disk: IBM 60GXP 40GB
CDRW: Plextor 40*16*10 IDE
Graphics: Elsa 511 TV-OUT -MX400 OEM
Modem: Pine Comstar ESS PCI 3621
Sound: SB Live! Value 5.1 OEM
Case: Antec SX1030
Monitor: CTX PR705F
Printer: HP930C
Thermal grease: Artic Ice II

Any improvments?

 
GTS 2 Pro or Geforce 3 and replace the Sound Blaster with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. What OS? I went from 98 to 2000 and love it.
 
I am not sure how sb live got in a Tbird system with stability being a criteria, regardless if there is a fix out...still some other issues for some people...old drivers, spotty 2000 support, old technology period...

Why spend so much for a case and get oem junk vid cards and sound cards?

1) get a 32mb ddr GF2 pro or gts
2) get a santa cruz sound card
