That is why I said weird Andy, it opened two identical posts on the main page. One doesn't have anything, and then have doubled up in this post..not sure what happened there.

Thanks for the deal. Was about to buy some durons for some friends PCs, these will make a nice substitute especially if they overclock (got 2). 2day shipping was only $4.00 more, so, should be here by tuesday (maybe wednesday).

RedDawn: Did you purchase these from compgeeks and know for sure they are not locked (the ones you got)? And they oc'ed to 850 using standard heatsink fan or did you buy a nice one?

Also, what type of MB are you talking about (Manuf. & Model.). I'd like to lookup the specs... I'll go check out abit and asus to see what they offer, but, not sure if they make the ones w/ onboard video like you are referring to.

Thanks all!

Yes, there are Thunderbird 650's but think you may be better off if you purchased recent manufacture Duron 600 or 700 if oc'g is your goal. I had one of these which was unlocked but was rather temperamental. Wasn't stable even at 800. Purchased a locked retail 600 which I "unlocked" and took it to 950 with an Abit KT7. Bottom line, the 650's were early manufacture. Good chip if your oc'g expectation is very limited.

Of deeper concern is the whole issue of dealing with Computer Geeks. I want go through chapter and verse, but after being a loyal customer of theirs for over two years, I refuse to do business with them anymore. Their return policy is totally unacceptable (all sales are final...even when they can't deliver, they keep your money and issue in-house credits ).

I have been trying to get a refund for a defective sound card I bought last September, and even after several phone calls and promises to issue a refund, they still have my money.

Please feel free to forward a copy of this message to their website.

I wasn't too worried about the overclock potential, at least now I know what range I can expect ~700-850. Even @650 they should be quick enough. Whatever else I get outta'em will be bonus. @~65each shipped, they are still a bit cheaper than the $97 shipped TBird 700's on Pricewatch. So, the difference is $30 and much lower OC potential. I can live with that.

Other than that, CPU's are pretty reliable--either they work or they don't. I can't imagine any problem other than them not having any. If they don't ship then they can't charge me... at least that's my understanding of the CC rules. If they are defective and give me vendor problems I'll dispute w/ CC card company.

We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the heads up.

I just ordered one, I have never had a problem with the geeks. I've been a long term customer, they ship quick, and when I did have a OBF part, they rma'ed one quick. Never tried to get a refund though. I've got to RMA a PCCHIPs board I just bought from them, bought 2, one was totally dead, one will only run a socket 370, and not a slot1 cpu, I will keep it though, for $36 it has a 56k modem and 3d sound, runs good with a Celeron 366

I bought a factory unlocked 650 Tbird from a member on this board and it works great at 816 mhz on an MSI k7tpro2a board.
