ok i was wondering if u tried to use an athlon mp processor by itself on a normal motherboard... or an athlonxp in a dual setup

does it work?

I don't think so. I guess it's possible that a MP would work in a XP m/b, but I'm sure that a XP would not work in a MP m/b.

i think theres some kind of mod you can do to xp chips to make them work in mp boards

This site says Barton XP can be modded to MP. I haven't read the article but remember seeing on AMDZone.com.
