Athlon Newbie Questions

Hi all,

I'm a newbie at AMD stuff, but I've been considering my next PC upgrade being a move to a T-bird setup instead of a faster Intel chip. I've checked out some prices and stuff, and it appears that there are 2 different versions of the T-bird CPU: a 200MHz bus version and a 266MHz bus version. Does it particularly make a difference which version one uses? I assume as long as the mobo supports the 266MHz version.

What about RAM--is there any real reason to get a system with DDR RAM as opposed to plain old PC133?

Is there anywhere where I can get a useful FAQ on building an Athlon setup?

Thanks!

In reference to the 200/266 question. It's exactly like the 100/133 with Intel. If you run a 1GHz266 at a 200FSB you'll be running at 750MHz. And if you (can) run a 1GHz/200 at 266FSB then you'll be running at 1.33GHz (WOO!)

In reference to the DDR question: it depends on your upgrade path and how badly you want to OC.
