What's up guys. Got a few questions.

I had a dual processor Athlon MP 2000+ system setup.

I was using a Tyan motherboard, which has died on me. I need to rebuild the system. Since funds are a little tight right now. I'm looking for a cheap rebuild. Decided to just get a single processor motherboard. I'd like to purchase this one: SY-KT880 DRAGON 2 . I've got a few questions:

1.) Can I use one of my MP processors in this motherboard designed for "Athlon XP's"?
2.) I have registered memory. Can I use Registered memory on a board that suspports unregistered ram?

I know I'm not going to get the best speeds possible with my 266 ram, but it'll get me up and going. So before I buy, I just wanted to be sure. My train of thought is correct.

Thanks in advance

It's def. an option. I'll check it out futher.

I've had issues with my dual proc setup since I built it. I'm kinda sour towards another dual AMD setup. This first one was pure hell to get built up and running 90% proper. I'd like to go with a single just so it's an easy rebuild and easy wire routing.

My Tyan has a 13 x 12 foot print pure hell to work the wires around.

Any input on the registered and unregistered deal memory deal?

Hey again man,

I had an MSI K7D Master-L with the same RAM I ran in my last 3 systems. PC3200 Infineon DDR, and it had zero problems. The RAM was unbuffered, unregistered, 1 gig worth.
Everything worked on the K7D and it was very stable. I even ran it for a while on a Sparkle 300W PSU without a hitch.

I think it would be a good setup for you, but I'd look for the red PCB version of the board, as it is the newer revision.

MSI has a so-so reputation, but their MP boards are great, take it from me, I was very happy with mine.
