I see a new AMD Athon II coming - the ADX250OCGQBOX.

AMD Athlon II Dual-Core 250 3.0 GHz L2=512KB/Core L3=1MB Soc AM3 65W PIB

Street price will be about 86.00 or so - Why don't they let "Athlon" die?

I don't understand the naming convention - "250"?

It looks like Athlon might become their lower end line up, like the Sempron and Duron before it. They've invested a lot into the name, so it probably can't hurt to keep it around. They have the 9xx quads, 7xx tri cores, 5xx dual core Phenoms and it looks like on the low end the 2xx Athlons. I think their might be an 8xx too, quads with less cache? I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

There already is a Phenom II X4 8XX series.

Athlon II will also fill the 4XX with triple core and 6XX with quad core. Those will have no L3 cache.
