good morning!

does the athlon II X4 processor has eratha? because I can notice some performance decrease when CnQ is on?

your insights and opinions will be greatly appreciated

No errata that I know of. What OS are you running? CnQ performs much better on Win 7.

CnQ slows down the cpu. (it is only supposed to happen when its not under 100% load.

CnQ is supposed to result in something of a performance decrease (unless, of course, full-speed performance is needed) because it downclocks your CPU (allowing to lower CPU voltage and save power).

Maybe try updating the BIOS, just in case? Also try disabling C1E in BIOS setup. I find that with this enabled, I get crackling audio and some other problems when e.g. watching video.

Also a small (a few %) drop is expected when enabling CnQ. After all, you're running your cores at a much lower frequency (~800 MHz), and expecting them to instantly hit their full speed at every little CPU usage spike isn't realistic. Especially applications where CPU load hovers just around the "cutoff point" for CnQ to kick in might suffer. Still, it's probably best to leave it enabled. When you need 100% CPU for extended periods, CnQ will get out of your way and let you have that, and at idle, power draw and heat/noise will be much lower.

well, it's my friend's rig. it is under Win 7 64 ultimate...

when I turn on the CnQ, it's like the eratha on the old phenom processors that when CnQ enabled, there is performance decrease but when i turn it off.. everything just performs well...

the sad thing is we don't want it to be always running on full speed because we can't take advantage of the power saving feature..

CnQ has a bigger slowdown on older MB systems using onboard GFX with 1/2 digit in its multiplyer as it reduces memory speed also, JFYI.
