Do you know when the Athlon II X4 605e will be available? As I understand it, it will be the first 45W quad core CPU. I have been looking across the internet for an update on this low power quad and can't find anything updated in the past month or so.

Thanks!

The word on the street is that it will be available on Oct 22, the same time as the release of Windows 7. Source: xbitlabs

you could just buy a 620 and try undervolting it.

i personally got sick of waiting for these lower power chips and that is what i did. wanted to get a 240e and it took forever to come out, so i bought a regular 240 and undervolted from 1.425 to 1.175.

i bet you could do the same with a 620 if you clock it down to 2.3 ghz like a 605e as well.

My Q6600 is probably under 65W thanks to my undervolting. Any 45nm quad can do it if you undervolt.

As previously mentioned rumor is Oct 22 we'll see a number of new energy efficient models, and I've seen rumor of the 45W quads exceeding $150. I find reason to believe rumor in those high prices, just look back at Phenom when the 65W quads were released, they rivaled the 9850/9950 in price.

Personally I agree with some of the opinions to undervolt a regular processor, both my Phenom II 940 and Phenom 9850 will run at the same voltages/clock speeds as their energy efficient counterparts do.
