Lol, AMD copied XP and then said it stood for Extra Performance, and they weren't copying Windows XP (eXPerience). Wonder what they'll come up with for FX.

Isn't that where the slogan "AMD ME" came from?

It was a joke. I think the AMD ME slogan came significantly after Win ME...

god, have we resorted to arguing which company has better names? wtf? what about G3, G4, G5 crap?

I think you're horribly wrong.
the G4 etc names are one of the best I think. here's why:
- they're short.
- don't sound funny (athlon, duron, operton, even pentium at first was funny - it's just so common now that no one pays any attention to that).
- you can easily add them into the product name (Powerbook G4, PowerMac G5 etc.)
- you don't have to come up with some funky name every time you enter a new generation - you just add the next number after the G. (now pentium has that going for it so far too, which is a good thing. I don't know what those guys at ATI were thinking when they started naming their chips with such large numbers... should've just been Radeon 2, 3 etc. width maybe Pro, Value or whatever at the end to differentiate the different versions.)

if you say so... I think Aplpe has a _really_ good marketing dept. and the best product line with some of the best names. I also think that it's only you who thinks that clawhammer is good for anything except maybe for an industrial drilling machine.

Maybe we could get back on topic here and talk about the specs of the Athlon FX... I hope it overclocks well....

They could have called it Athlon SX

But then all the Intel Fanboiz would be callin' it Athlon SuX. :Q

Maybe they could call it Klingon

Or maybe Mowth'Lon
