Just curious what you athlon boys are running at:

I'm running 700 @ 750 @ 1.65v. -- Gonna push her tonight to 805 hopefully.

I have a classic Athlon 800 @ 800
I haven't gotten the nerve yet to crack open the case just yet

Yeah, I bought my 700 last week because it was cheap. I was running the system with the retail chip -- it was really nice to see a retail chip just sitting there running its own merry way in my case. And then that OC side hit me, I grabbed the chip and busted that sucker open. Ah well, no more nice black case on my athlon -- but it's running faster :D

I have a 700 on a KA7. I've gotten it to run at 750 with GFD, but 800 won't go. Even at 1.8 volts...
I think I need to change the cache setting. I've tried setting it down to 2/5 and 1/3 even, but it still won't boot at 800...
So I tried 2/5 and 1/3 at the defualt 700Mhz, and CPUID and SiSoft Sandra both say that it's still at 1/2... what's the deal? why isn't the cache option in BIOS working??

So I guess I might have some problems tonight pushing the chip to 805MHz?

Right now, I'm OC through my MB (soyo) and I have a GFD if I need to use it. I got it to 800 easily with my GFD.

How do i push her even more now? cache settings?

*What would happen if I overclocked using both the MB, and the GFD?

I have a 700@770 with 1.8 voltage. I got it to 805 with the voltage cranked, but it was only good for a couple hours till windows started to biff.

750@1 ghz (997 anyway) I have to set the L2 to 1/3 and once I boot into windows I set the fsb to 105. Voltage is set to 1.7. Runs at about 111 degrees F. I can't figure out why the chip won't post with the board fsb set to 105 but I can change it to 105 in windows.

PS Mushkin 133 memory really helped make my system run stable.

I've gotten my KA7 to post at 105, but that's it, nothing higher.
Bandguy. Does CPUID or Sisoft report you cache being set to 1/3??
I've tried setting mine to 1/3 or 2/5 and CPUID always says it's still at 1/2....

I got my 700Mhz@1.02 GHZ with 2/5 L2 cache. Just updated Sandra to 2001 and its beating Tbird 1Ghz on the benchmark, but kinda behind the 1.5Ghz P4.

I got my CPU from overclockerz.com ... supposedly it should be a 750 core --> 900 ... but I can't get 900 stable and I'm at a high voltage as is (2.00V). I'm rock stable at 850 and with a difference of only 50 mhz, i'm fine. When I remove the GFD, the CPU runs at 650 MHz which leads me to believe, assuming that overclockerz is being honest...that my chip is a 650, with 750 core, oc'ed to 850. I'm fine with this as I paid less than what an 850 chip outright would have cost me...and thing is, I didn't hafta crack open any case or buy any GFD...I'm so close to the gig mark though...argh!!!

Mine is sitting a 1ghz and haven't even tried going up via the FSB...it is staying very cool too..around 41C. I've got tons of cooling going on around it. Besides the Alpha, I've got 3 huge case fans, one slot cooler and a front panel cooler (which moves a ton of air). For those of you that are new...PLEASE..PLEASE make sure you have sufficient cooling.
Just my .02 worth.

700 w/ 900 Core, at 1G
My Motherboard is a KA7, cooling is Artic Circle, GFD is Northwind Rev 2.0.
OCing via FSB is just too unstable on my board. Whats an extra 50mhz anyway when I am at 1G already??

Anyone have any problems running thier GeForce 2 with a KA7? I am having all sorts of problems....Even with my 300watt PS.

I was wondering what some of you all had happen while trying to overclock.
I have my 700@800 at 1.8v, but I can't get it higher.
Whenever I try 850, it checks memory and then it just sits there... never starts detecting the hard drives. Even at 1.95volts.
And when that fails 800 won't work anymore either. It then does the same thing, just sitting there after memory check.
Did anyone else have stuff like that happen?
Only way to get 800 to work again, is to go back to 750, let it boot all the way into windows, then shutdown, put it up to 800. Try to boot about 4 times, and then it finally works...

very wierd...

Roth: that happens to me too when I update my Bios. The fix for me is remove the GFD then boot ino the bios as a 700Hmz(defalut). Set the multip. to 10x then shutdown, put the GFD back on.After power on it boots and load like it always does.

For people who do not want to remove the heatplate to find out what brand of cache they have:
Use cpuid, if you see S6 next to the L2 cache its most likely NEC
and if its says H6, its SEC cache. Just an observation. :)

S just means software defined, H is hardware defined.
6 is SEC or NEC. doesn't matter because both have same settings in bios
4 is Mitsubish or Motorola.

Ok, that helped a lot. If I put it back to default(700), and let it boot ALL the way into windows, and the shutdown, put the GFD on, and startup it works!
700@850 at 2/5 cache. But I have to put it to 1.95 volts to get it stable in a Quake3 repeated demo loop...

Roth ... I'm in the same boat as you -- just got her to 850MHz from 700 at 1.90v. She didn't even boot at 900 =(. Ah well.

yeah chimp. Mine will do 850 at 1.90 but after a couple loops of quake3 it freezes. 1.95 fixed that. all at 2/5 cache
I got 900 to boot once at 2.00v at 1/3 cache, that was out of like 5 tries. I'm trying different stuff in bios like drive strength to see if I can boot it every time.
I don't think I want to use 2.05 though...

600@610 with FSB. Never got around to getting a GFD, and now it seems kinda pointless when I could buy a 1 Ghz Thunderbird for under $200 and DDR systems coming out soon...

800(retail) running @ 900 with 1.80V , cooled by VOS32, 40C.
Does 950, but only with 1.90V, and I have to set the cache @1/3. So I prefer 900 with 2/5 cache.

I've got an Athlon 550 at 800mhz right now. The highest I was able to get into Windows with is 864. 800 is nice and stable though.

550@800(100x8.0 at 1.8v)
Abit KA7
128 megs Corsair PC133

Idle temp: 95
Load temp: 102
Ambient temp: 71

edit: If any of you are interested, the highest I could set the FSB on my KA7 and still get into Windows was 127. It worked long enough to run a few benchmarks. It's possible that one of my cards caused it to lock up rather than the CPU or mobo.
