Hi im looking to buy one of these DDR boards with the intention of Building a high performance Athlon based Linux server (using slackware 8).

Has ANYONE had this board running linux? what problems did you encounter? what kind of applications are you running on it, is it stable? uptime?

Thanks

I dunno about when using Linux, but as far as using it in any server, u can't go wrong with the A7M. It is the most stable AMD 760 board avialable, very good for Server's/Workstation's.

checkout www.linuxhardware.org it has some reviews on Athlon DDR mobos.

The boards listed use the AMD 761 chipset, not sure if it's the same as the one your looking.

I would think if you use any of the latest version of RH, Mandrake, SUSE you'd be safe. Not sure how up to date Slackware is.

UPDATE:

The AMD 761 chipset uses a VIA southbridge, while boards based on the AMD 760 use the 762 AMD Northbridge & 766 AMD Southbridge .

The Tyan Thunder K7 uses the 760 chipset & soon to be released (end of this month) the TigerMP also uses the 760 chipset. Also these boards have 64bit pci slots.

Jose
