i havent got it yet (in the mail) but would i need 300w power supply ?? the case it has is only 250 you think the chicken will choke?

I have a lot more in my system than you do, and it ran fine on a 300W. 250 may be stretching it, but if it is a quality PS, you should have no problems.

I'm running a K7A with a 750, G400 Max, SB Live value, Adaptec 29160, 18 GB HD, CD-ROM, CD-RW, and some other assorted goodies.

When I built the system it had a 250 watt. It was "pretty" stable but still did weird stuff now and again. I broke down and got an Antec 300 watt and what a difference it made. I do think (not confirmed) that SCSI equipment puts more drain on a system (power wise) that IDE does.

Considering how cheap a 300 watt P/S is it's probably worth the $40 to step up.

All I can say is that going to 300 watt sure helped my box.

get an antec or a delta 250 watt and you'd be fine. There are a number of 250 watts on the amd recommended list for the 900. Even a couple 235s

Maybe I'm just lucky. I've to an Athlon 700 running at 945 in an InWin S500 case with the default 235Watt PS. I figured I might as well try, and if it fails then I could throw another one in. So far it's been running about 6 weeks without a single hiccup. Again...maybe I'm just lucky!

I agree with AMB that you should definitely go with a 300W PS if you are going to run an Athlon and GeForce. Both are quite power hungry. 🙂
