Okay - just picked up a Kyro 2 for my AMD 1.13 Ghz Unit, and it has been performing pretty well for me - beautiful image quality!

Now I have an ol' Athlon 700 on a slot A mobo w/ the AMD 751 chipset. What would you put with that CPU? Kyro 1 or Kyro 2?

Thanks!

Okay - here is what I've heard. If you get a Kyro2, you should have a CPU > 850 Mhz to take advantage of it, because of the need for software T&L.

I thought that by buying the Kyro2, it might be overkill for that "slow" of a CPU :) I thought the Kyro1 might be more appropriate to pair with it.

Now that you know my thinking, what do y'all think?

But that only applies for games that use T&L! Most popular don't at the moment...

"Okay - so if you are running a T&L game, would an Athlon 700 be adequate? "

I relation to what? If you start hurting in CPU performance then that is going to be the same whether you run a KYROI for KYROII - the only difference being that KYROII will allow you to run at the same performance at higher resolutions and/or FSAA (and/or EMBM/Dot3 if the game supports it), so you will still get IQ benefits.

I'm currently running a P3 733 and a KYROII now, and most games I'm playing don't seem to be hurting too much.
