Getting ready to get an AMD machine and am thimking of getting an A8V Deluxe from ASUS and an Athlon 64 3500+, is there anything wrong with this cpu or mobo that you guys know of? I'm normally an Intel guy, but decided to give AMD a shot. Whats the dif between the FX and the normal 64? IS 939 a good socket to get (upgrade options?)

939 is the best socket available, the FX has unlocked multiplier and the regular is locked upwards, goos decision just make sure u check some nforce 3 or if u have some time you are better off waiting 15 days or so for the nforce 4 mobos

Ok, but does the FX have anything else on the normal 64? Also, whats the deal with the FX-55 and FX-53?

FX represents the top of the AMD line and it is completely unlocked as was mentioned earlier. It does not have any additional features, like an L3 cache. BTW, the FX-53 and the 4000+ are the same processor except the 4000+ is locked the same way the rest of the A64's are.

Also, wait for nForce4. Two weeks will not kill you.

The 3500+ is at a good price point. It's not the best bang for the buck, but going high than that, costs increase much faster than the performance does.

You got it. And even if you do decide to OC later, the 3500+ should still OC at least 15 -20%, probably more.
