how can you tell if you're fully utilizing an athlon 64 with 32 bit XP pro?

Device manager shows HAL as ACPI uniprocessor PC.

CPU is recognized as athlon 64.

Taskmon shows only a sigle CPU graph.

How can you configure/confirm that xp pro is seeing two logical processors?

(sry if this is posted elsewhere - i did check the forums before posting)

Thanks.

Two logical processors? Athlon 64s are not hyperthreaded; you will only see one processor AFAIK.

One a single processor A64 machine there is only 1 logical processor. Since there are no multi-core machines just yet, you won't have access to more than 1 CPU... Sounds like you're setup properly.

No know your facts first. 64 bit CPU doesn;t means it'll dual handle the 32bit apps such as Win XP Pro. It'll just run 32 apps just fine without any problems, just the fact that it's 64 bit ready puts you in gear for future upgrades... You have nothing to worry about. It's a single CPU, you won;t see two seperate threads under the Task Manager.

I've something better to do... Plz lock this forum. Asked and answered.

The Athlon 64 will run the following:

1. Windows XP Home 32 bit
2. Windows XP Pro 32 bit
3. Windows XP Pro 64 bit
4. Windows 2003 Server { web, standard, enterprise, including 32 bit and 64 bit editions }
5. Linux

STFU noobie. If he doesn't understand, we'll walk him thru it. You don't have enough posts or time here to start posting crap like that.
