I went for the 3200+ as well, I just bought the OEM version from Monarch for $193 + $15 for the extra 3 year warranty thru Monarch. Should be here tomorrow, and my WD250GB SATA should be here tomorrow.

My Shuttle SN95G5 should be up and running by tomorrow night 🙂

Apparently if you call Monarch and complain, they will honor the $251 price for the 3500+ 90nm. guys, dont get too excited about calling them and getting the $251 price. if u read my post, I emailed them last week (the day after they raised the price), and that may be why they took my request into consideration. if everyone calls them now and asks for $251, I doubt they will give anyone that price...😕
 
seems to be a demand for this proc.. ive had mine for about 3 weeks now.. u guys want me to update the title?

i havent really followed prices on the 3500+ recently, but i keep seeing this thread pop up in hot deals. 🙂

Its an awesome proc, and once i figure out what 120mm fan im going to put on my thermalright xp120, off the retail hsf goes, and enter the overclocking.

best overclocking possibilities? i dunno... best performance comes at a cost, just have to weigh the cost/benefits.

imo its worth it 🙂

also i wouldnt compare retail vs oem... just not fair comparison:
3year warranty through amd vs 1year through company you purchase from...

not true. I got my 3200+ running at 2600mhz and i still havent gone higher then 40c. Im using stock and a crappy mge sidewinder case. but it does the cooling just fine
 
meh, i got the thermalright xp120 (which i think is better personally) and am just waiting to buy a good 120mm fan... going panaflo, just debating on which to go with.. ultra or high..

but for time being, im usin the stock hsf..

mobo temps are inaccurate for measuring actual temp...but useful for measuring relative temp

absolutely true. but like you said "relative". So me running somewhere in the neighborhood of 40c, thats pretty effective stock cooling.

by relative, i didnt mean the readings are "relatively" close to actual

i meant relative meaning relative to yourself...for example...change in temp is fairly accurate (a change of 2c is actually a change of 2c, while a reading of 40c doesnt mean its close to 40c)

with my dfi lanparty and stock bios the reading was 39ish idel and 49ish load which is nowhere near accurate, actually more like..10C off

after i flashed to a different bios, the reading now reads 28ish idle and 39ish load, which is much closer to actual...

now if i went to stock cooling, most likely i'd have like...45ish load...a relative change of 5-6c compared to my xp120

bottom line...readings mean squat
