was trying to look for the best price on a new 939 socket cpu.
and well i finally got one... splurged the extra $20 to get a 3200 instead of a 3000. i think it was worth it.

svc.com has a suprisingly cheap price on the 3200+ oem.

http://www.svc.com/a643200939-99.html

$163. less than some places charge for a 3000.

USPS priority mail shipping is $5. tax in california but even with tax, its less than the cheapest in pricewatch (and that one is in CA also)

if you need a really cheap fan, they have this one for $5 , a coolermaster unit (i got this too....)

oem is not worth the saving, I always buy retail, "free" heatsink, fan and usually 3yrs manufactory's warranty. They are worth that extra ~$10-20 for me.

It's worth it to people who plan on overclocking and voiding their warranty anyway, and for those who plan to use 3rd party copper HSF units.

ive never had a cpu fail on me outside of being dead on arrival. unless you are gonna go crazy o/c which woulda voided your warranty anyway on a retail one, i dont think its worth the extra in this case $30. that $5 coolermaster fan, is probably equivalent to whatever AMD would give you anyway.

I've been away from CPUs for a while. Is this an "overclocker"?

My 939 A64 3200+ reaches 2.4Ghz (2.0 Ghz is stock) at default voltage using the retail hsf., so yes this is an "overclocker"!

I emailed them to ask about steppings, but their reply was they get random steppings so they couldn't tell me what I would get. I still think I will jump on this one tomorrow.

Yea this is supposedlly a very good overclocker at this price level. Look through the general hardware forum.

Too bad they don't have a similarly good price on the retail version I woulda jumped on that.

i ordered it, i guess ill update with stepping later when i get it.

i didnt even know they had that first class option.. i bought the heatsink too though, so i think that would make it weigh more than first class allows.

Had to jump on this deal.

I would be so happy if I get lucky and it'll run 1:1 with my RAM and at x10 multiplier, putting it at 2.75Ghz. We'll see though.
