Athlon 64 (socket 754) and MEMORY SPEED

im upgradin this summer, im not used to high end stuff so unless my job pays me well, ill be aiming for an ASUS K8VSE Deluxe, and a athlon 64 3000+ (754) and ill probably be having a 1gb of ram.

now am i right in thinkin the A64 is a single channle memory controllerm that is on the cpu itself an therefore has no FSB....does the hyper transport bus replace this?

so if theres no FSB, does that mean i can use any speed memory? im being told to have at least DDR400. but wil having faster ram produce more performance through bandwidth or is faster than 400 not worth it?

thanks

Theres not a single CPU up to this day that doesnt have an FSB. Recommended RAM speeds for an A64 is PC3200 aka DDR400 since the FSB of an A64 is the same. A socket 754 A64 is a single channel memory i believe. unless the nFORCE3 chip support dual channel (not sure) i know the socket 939 version does have dual channel. But not sure for the 754. What are y ou gonna use the system for, and what video card are you going to use together with that system?
