athlon 64 fx cooling?

this cpu came with the stock amd fan, just wondering what anyone else would recommend to cool this with... i am looking at thermalright and zalman right now, but if the stock fan will do the job fine, then i might just stick to it. also, should i even bother putting some arctic silver on this? i hear the thermal pad is fine.

thanks

The FX is aimed more at the overclockers around so aftermarket cooling would be preferred by most FX users.

However, you should be able to get a minor overclock with the stock setup and pad.

The Thermalright XP-120 is probably the best to get if your board accepts it. After that its a tossup between the Zalman 7700 and the XP-90.

Personally, Id go the Thermalright route if you decide Stock cooling is inadequate. The ability to easily switch fans allows you to easily cater for your taste in pc noise.
