Athlon 64 fx-51

OK i would like to take a poll.
How many of you either still have a socket 940 athlon 64 fx-51 or know someone that does. I mean i remember when that was the killer beast of the east.

well i picked the fx-51 because that was the first fx and it was what started everything for the fx line. And it was the biggest news from AMD when it was first out. Now when you hear of new cores it doesnt seem to be as big anymore

nope my fx55 is no where near as good online in games as the duel core 4400+, just eats it , l guess its like two 3200+s together, at 2.2 compared to the fx55 at 2.6 single core.

FX-51 = S754 3400+ Clawhammer = S939 ~~~~3500+

I had a S754 3400+, it was a BEAST, I got it two years ago in Feb. I think.

I hope you're joking, or perhaps heavily intoxicated as per your sig...

A. its dual, not duel
B. there is no way the 4400+ is faster than a FX55 in games
C. the 4400+ is 2.2GHz with 1MB of L2cache per core, so thats more like 3700+, not 3200+. Even 3500+ would have been closer because its also 2.2GHz (although with 512KB of L2 cache). The 3200+ is 2.0GHz with 512KB of L2 cach...
D. your post has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

What are you smoking?

Always drinkin , but anyways, 3 other pc s running here always got backround tasks running, and fraps running sometimes recording, the dual 4400+ is way better, in single player like HL2 the fx55 is miles ahead, but online in games like bfv or bf2 l find the 4400+ better especially when recording with fraps.
That probly makes a bit more sence.

I still have a pair (one in a box since before they were released, and one that's never seen a box).

Yeah well if you could afford the FX51, chances are you weren't going to hang onto it for too long, if on just for keepsake value, as you should certainly be able to upgrade to the next FX chip.

Thanks for sharing, want to tell us anything else you have?

Perhaps a list of video cards, etc?

The dual core being better at multiplayer actually makes some sense due to the cpu useage of onboard LAN. Onboard lan can eat up a significant chunk of your cpu, so if you have two cores it can offload that useage onto the core thats not running the game, thus better performance in the game.

This topic just hopped off the main topic here...

Actually, I do know a few people with S940 FX'es.. They've upgraded their main rigs and those FXes became secondary rigs.

well, i prefered my old s941 fx-49. it could only be found deep in the rain forrest. it could kill an fx57.

Unless you are running 40 processes in the background, I fail to see how onboard LAN could eat up enough CPU to cause such a loss in performance to say that a Dual Core 4400+ could be faster than a A64 running 2.6GHZ.

I'm willing to bet that my rig would smoke a 4400+ X2 using the same X800XL.

If not, can I see some benches?
