Auction said that it powered up, and only beeped. Probably a bad video card according to the auction.

Wow, nice. Even if any one of those components completely failed, it woulda still been a decent deal.

Even if the video card was bad, it would have been a good deal since you'll end up replacing it anyway...

Man, that's quite a gamble, being sold as-is, the board could been fried as well as the CPU, etc. They could still beep and be beyond repair. Who knows. Awesome that it worked out for you but $450 is a lot to shell out when you don't know. Even the 160GB drive could have been toast.

Sure - but I worked in a PC repair shop for a number of years, and I figured that the chance of multiple component failure on a system that new was low.

Fortunately it all works... and now I just need a 6800 GT :D

I thought about it, and then I realized that it owuld probably be a waste of time. They weren't particularly good at returning e-mails after I paid.

About three weeks ago, I just picked up a Athlon 64 3000+ for $40 dollars. The seller didn't know what it was and he told me that if it didn't work, he would return my money back to me. It worked!

Anyways, a bump for ya...

Screw that, let him sell more stuff that he thinks is junked and buy it, too.
