Athlon 64 core crush?

Hey guys, I ahve received my cooler master hyper 6 days ago.. I installed it.. but temps arn't that great..... 37 idle and about 50 load.... this is with an athlon 64 3200+ clawhammer... anyways....

I figured out that I am possibly not mounting the brackets for the cooler correctly... So it is not putting enough pressure to the cpu... anyways... When I tried to mount the bracket down from top to bottom.. i needed alot of pressure but I didnt finish the job b/c I was VERY afraid of crushing my cpu...

anyways my a64.. like almsot all others.. has a heatspreader on it.... and this would probably keep the core from being crushed easily.... hwta is hte percent chance rate that installing my hyper 6 with "extreme" pressure and killing my core???

That's not abnormal for a clawhammer. Just make sure not to use too much thermal paste and that there's plenty of contact 🙂

ACK!! all fixed 🙂 looks like I didn't mount the brackets right the first time.... it didn't put enough pressure downwards the cpu.... anyways how about a comparison...

before: athlon 64 3200+ clawhammer @ stock speeds = 38 idle 52 load prime95 small ftt test

after with correct mounting: 30 idle 44 load prime95 small ftt test also... I am VERY happy with these results 🙂

http://www.madshrimps.be/?action=getarticle&number=12&artpage=1292&articID=224 they are very close to ths roundup here... I get 44 load and he gets 42 load with his hyper 6... pretty close margin of error with the same cpu... mobo + ambient room temp 🙂 anyways I totally recommend this heatsink just because it is a badass cooler

and those of u afraid of the weight.. well don't be, when mounted securely.. it is and feels very safe.... and I dont see how it can crack the mobo in half as some people are afraid of 🙂

PEACE! me off to play some BF2 🙂
