I'm building a small Linux box that will be used as mostly a file server, and maybe some desktop usage too eventually.. I plan on putting an nVidia 6-series card in there, and running compiz or beryl for 3D window effects. Is the Athlon64 3500+ (single core) OK for this? I know Linux can make better use of a CPU than Windows can, so dual core probably isn't necessary.
